Billing

Could the organizers please clarify how billing/free credits work for all required or recommended services, not only Google Cloud? For a project using Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform / Agent Builder, Vertex AI or Gemini APIs, Cloud Run, Secret Manager, and a partner MCP such as Elastic, Arize, or Fivetran, do participants receive free credits or trial access for each service, and how should we apply before enabling billing? I want to avoid unexpected personal charges while still meeting the hosted-project and partner-MCP requirements.

I don't have any free credits available for my Google Cloud account. I was unable to find the link to apply for free credits. Please respond so that I can start working on this

    Hi Pavlo,
The Partner Resources pages should have the info you need about getting set up. If not, please feel free to reach out. Note that ALL native Google Cloud services (Vertex AI, Gemini APIs, Cloud Run, Secret Manager, Agent Builder) are covered by Google Cloud credits.

Hi Anil, you can find instructions on how to receive an additional $100 in Google Cloud credits for the hackathon in the Rules under section 6: HOW TO ENTER.

Dear Sara, thank you for response!
Perhaps, I am doing something wrong, but I am asked immediately about billing upon enabling Vertex AI, and it seems that even if a small portion is covered by free trial, it is doubtful whether this will be enough to build and test the meaningful high-quality project.

same concern like mentioned by Pavlo Lykhovyd above, 100 credits are not enough to complete my project either

    Hi Pavlo and Aarti,
An allocation of 100 credits is generally sufficient to build and test a high-quality project. Vertex AI is billed incrementally based on usage, and 100 credits typically covers millions of API tokens.

To build your project without incurring personal expenses, please ensure your account is properly configured to utilize the event's promotional resources:

Claim Credits First: Redeem your hackathon-provided Google Cloud credit code before deploying any infrastructure.

Verify Native Coverage: These credits directly cover native Google Cloud Services, including Vertex AI. Ensure the credits are visible in your Google Cloud Console under Billing > Credits.

Prevent Overages: Configure a budget alert with a hard limit of $0 to avoid any unexpected charges.

Maximize Resources: Maintain daily resource hygiene by pausing or deleting active instances when you are not actively developing. Additionally, you can preserve your primary Google Cloud credits by utilizing the independent developer tiers and trials offered by our priority ISV integration partners, such as MongoDB, which are managed independently and accessed through their dedicated resource sections."

Hi Sara, I already applied via the Google Form for the $100 GCP credits for my existing Google Cloud account. Though, I still haven't received it yet. Do you mind checking the progress for my application? Cheers :)

    Hi Hafeez,
Please note it may take up to 5 business days to approve. If you haven't received them within 5 biz days, feel free to reach out to me privately. Thanks!
